Free Audio Editor 2014 9.5.7

Free Audio Editor 2014 Editor's Review

Free audio editors are everywhere, so it’s always hard to know which to use. Free Audio Editor is an award-winning audio editing tool, and it is easy to understand why. Free Audio Editor features editing capabilities, effects units, basic audio recording tools, CD authoring and basic audio conversion. Free Audio Editor, unlike many freeware audio suites, has evolved as Windows has been updated. There’s no aged-looking graphical user interface in Free Audio Editor, instead you have an Office-esque ribbon, with a logical and easy-to-navigate button setup. With this interface, Free Audio Editor rarely feels like a chore to either use or learn. Everything is exactly where you would expect it.

As with many free audio editors, the recording, producing and mastering techniques aren’t up to levels of high-end software, but unlike many freeware alternatives, Free Audio Editor doesn’t feel like a lacking application. It looks better than much of the competition, offers a fully-fledged feature list and provides a lot of power for a free application. It is a great all-in-one tool, where you can record a song, reduce the crackle, save it, and then burn it to CD all at once.

Pros: Great interface, easy learning curve, very powerful for freeware.

Cons: Lacking in recording, producing and mastering techniques.

Conclusion: Free Audio Editor is great software, whether you want to cut an audio clip from a long file, reduce the noise on your vinyl recordings, or add some edits to your song you’ve just recorded. As far as freeware goes, there’s not much better than the award-winning Free Audio Editor.
